Jerry Noone started his auto career when he was 14 years old starting to build his dad's '23 T-bucket kit that sat in the garage for a couple years waiting for somene to start it. That project needed the abilities of paint, bodywork, fabrication, electrical, mechanical and interior if it was to ever get done. So this started his mission to become a complete builder.
His uncle Joey was a mechanic and owned a gasser '57 Chevy with a L-88 crate motor, Muncie 4-speed, 4:88 gears, and ran 11 second times. Uncle Joey soon began teaching engine building and all other mechanical skills. Jerry's first car was a '67 Chevelle at 16 years old and it became a donor of many engine and tranny combo's. While a senior in high school he got a job at Harbor Frieght Tools (at that time they were just in North Hollywood and carried alot more S-K,Proto, and other U.S. made tools, not so now!). He was able to start buying tools thier that would soon provide the ability to do side jobs for friends and family.
Custom paint and body became the trade he pursued and increased his skills in at that time. But, a friend who did trim work at a local limo factory got him a job in the trim department, one year later he was lead over the interior crew because of innovative ideas that helped quality and production. This led to purchasing the best Pfaff sewing machine available for more side work at home. The Roam'n Relics were a local car club that had plenty of members who needed interiors. This provided the base to begin streetrod building. His first streetrod interior was a '40 Ford Woody, then a '37 Ford Club Coupe and a '46 Ford Tudor Sedan. The '46 interior was part payment of a deal to buy a '39 Ford Business Coupe(previously owned by Dick "Magoo"). At 23 years old Jerry built this car gound-up in less then a year and became Roam'n Relics youngest club member.
In 1987 Jerry opened his shop in Simi Valley,Ca. Since then he has done AMBR, Oakland Roadster Show, Detroit Autorama and many other show winning hotrods. To further improve his skills he started to learn and master Concours d' Elegance quality cars. His work has been seen in Pebble Beach and many other classic car shows every year since 1989.
One-off cars became a normal scene in his shop because of his ability to re-create or fabricate anything necassary to get the job done, even with little or no available photos of the original.
This required intesive research of vintage cars and thier styling. He now uses all those years of designs and styles to restore originals or customize hotrods to the era or style wanted buy the owner of the car. He has set trends in interiors and has been a leader in quality standards.
Metal shaping is Jerry's favorite craft, but he has not had the time necassary to master it. So, it's his hobby of choice and will be designing and building a one-off hotrod body and show-car on his own time.
